Trabaja en Berlin como ayudante de camara, pero de nuevo, con la llegada del sonoro, siente la necesidad de aprender esa nueva tecnica por lo que se traslada a los Estados Unidos, donde traba conocimiento con Robert Flaherty. En calidad de ayudante de Flaherty vuelve a Europa con la intencion de rodar un documental sobre Asia central. 1896-1975Nacido en Brookline, Massachusetts, William A Well man deja los estudios secundarios para jugar como profesional en un equipo de hockey sobre hielo. Pasa por ser el descubridor de Dustin Hoffman, a quien hizo trabajar en la coproduccion hispano-italiana-norteamericana Madigan’s Millions/Un dollaro per 7 vigliacchi/El mi llon de Madigan, dirigida por Giorgio Gentili. La pelicula se estreno en 1969, con posterioridad al estreno de El graduado (The Graduate, Mike Nichols, 1967), y al amparo del exito de esta. Autor de seis largometrajes, los tres ultimos westerns o, mas propiamente, spaghetti-westerns, este singular personaje, que vivio en Espana y en Dinamarca, poco aporta a la historia de un genero que esta muy por encima de el.
